Providing security updates for critical and important issues as defined by Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC)

Overview

Windows 7 Extended Security Updates (ESU) include security updates for critical and important issues as defined by Microsoft Security Response Center (MSRC). After 14 January 2020, PCs running Windows 7 will require ESU in order to receive security updates. Windows 7 ESU are on a per-device basis.

Previously, Windows 7 ESU was only available to Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise customers in Volume Licensing.

Many have or are on their way to deploying Windows 10, but Microsoft understands that everyone is at a different stage of the upgrade process. Therefore the ESU has been launched and is available until January 2023. This extension will be applied to businesses of all sizes.
